What Does A Therapeutic Nutritional Consultant Do? As a Therapeutic Nutritional Consultant, I perform detailed health assessments and provide recommendations that address nutrition-related concerns and that are designed to prevent disease and promote healthy living. The most common are helping clients with
- weight loss,
- meal portion planning,
- vitamin and mineral optimization,
- therapeutic use of enzyme supplements, and
- recommended daily intake of desired nutrients in food.
The health assessments help us identify nutritional deficiencies, assess daily food intake, determine if appropriate dietary alternatives need to be established, and offer practical recommendations based on research to help them reach and maintain their stated nutritional goals. Each client is unique and is ultimately seeking to enhance his or her specific biological makeup and potential. I believe that food is the most organic and non-invasive approach to healing the body, and that the right combinations of carbohydrates, amino acids, fatty acids, vitamins, minerals, probiotics, and digestive enzymes can do wonders for a person’s strength, health, and vitality.
Do You Think That Educating Your Clients Is Important? Many health organizations such as the National Heart, Lung, & Blood Institute, the National Institutes of Health, and the National Kidney Foundation advise that dietary and therapeutic lifestyle modifications are recommended as part of a comprehensive strategy to prevent or mitigate disease. My nutrition programs are designed to educate you, my client, in diet and lifestyle options that reach this overall goal. I cultivate an educational climate that provides each client with information, support, and follow-up as part of an individualized nutrition-counseling plan that helps you reach your specific goals.
Why Should I Trust The Center for Optimum Health & Pain Therapy With My Nutritional Health? One of my passions is to conduct high level research into Human Nutrition. As such, I continually avail myself of the best nutritional practices, therapies, advancements, and education. My current research interests are:
- enzyme therapies that address a myriad of conditions,
- botanical medicine,
- homeopathic formulas,
- raw food diets,
- anti-aging medicine based on nutrients instead of synthetic chemicals,
- anti-inflammatory properties of food,
- anti-viral, anti-bacterial, and anti-fungal properties of food,
- the use of nutraceuticals to address health needs,
- amino acid deficiencies,
- food allergies and toxicities,
- biomarkers that contribute to headaches and migraines,
- vitamin deficiencies that result in disease states, (e.g. the lack of vitamin B12 resulting in pernicious anemia).
- nutritional support to reduce muscle pain and dysfunction.
On a personal note, after four years of being misdiagnosed, it was finally determined in 1997 that I have Celiac disease. Celiac disease is a digestive disease that damages the small intestine and interferes with the absorption of nutrients from food. Hence, my professional endeavors and pursuit of pertinent research findings also stem from a personal desire to ensure that I can help others who may find themselves, as I had, facing misinformation and limited options.
